Keep reading to learn more about the impact of university research and the crucial role it plays in supporting the American economy, national security, and groundbreaking medical discoveries. But first, we hear from Rabbi Gil Steinlauf.
Rabbi Gil Steinlauf: Why I’m standing up
The Center for Jewish Life executive director and Jewish chaplain at Princeton University, Rabbi Gil Steinlauf ’91, shares why he’s standing up for Princeton.
Why we’re standing up

Princeton and other leading research universities have played an integral role in educating the next generation of leaders, building and enhancing America’s research system to advance human health, strengthening national security, and giving the United States a crucial edge in global competitiveness.
Major cuts to federal research funding put all those benefits at risk. In the face of that threat, universities across the country are highlighting how their research solves real-world problems. Check out the examples below and share, via social media, one that is meaningful to you.
- University of Chicago: Inside the Lab
- Johns Hopkins University: Research Saves Lives
- Michigan State University: Research for You
- University of Florida: Research and Impact
- University of Washington Medicine: Research Improves Lives
Support the 2025 Annual Giving Campaign
Give before June 30 to participate in the 2025 Annual Giving campaign. With many of our grants suspended or under threat, the University will need to draw even more heavily on Annual Giving and other sources. Support is always welcome, and every gift counts.
