Thank you to all who submitted an idea or shared how you have taken a stand for higher education. We’ve shared a selection of those submissions below.

Alumni and friends who are standing up

Many of you have shared inspiring stories of how you’re Standing Up for Princeton and advocating for higher education. Here are just a few examples:
- Madeleine Burns ’24 shared an op-ed she wrote for the Telluride Daily Planet, highlighting recent cuts to Princeton’s climate research programs. Read her op-ed here.
- Amy Gladfelter ’96, professor at Duke, has hosted several tours of her lab to highlight the positive contributions of federally funded research and training and to inspire support for science by showing its real-world benefits and impacts on the local economy.
- Patricia Thomas ’80 (pictured above) took time over the summer to publicly show their support for higher education and scientific research, all while decked out head to toe in Princeton apparel!
In the news
- A Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday morning carrying NASA’s IMAP, a Princeton-led mission to understand the Sun’s impact on its space environment.
- Last week, on the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor ’76 appeared on “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” and received a heartfelt message from Princeton student Amanda Hugas ’27. Amanda thanked Justice Sotomayor for paving the way for her and many young Latinas. Watch the “TODAY” segment and meet Amanda , who later surprised the Justice to share her gratitude in person.
- Princeton University Art Museum Director James Steward wrote this thoughtful piece for ArtNet: “Museums Are Under Fire: Silence Isn’t an Option”
- Princeton SPIA professor Udi Ofer accomplished a feat of across-the-aisle magic, bringing hard-right and hard-left factions together to approve a shared set of principles for criminal justice reform in America.
